DJ Escher has been into electronic music for as long as he can remember. His early inspirations were Kraftwerk and Paul Hardcastle, and he fully embraced the acid house explosion at the end of the eighties. It wasn’t long before the love of dance music became a desire to share it with the world, and he started DJing in the mid-nineties, playing early Jungle and Drum and Bass records.

He continued to play that sound for several years at various local parties, but as the DnB scene became darker and more robotic he became increasingly dissatisfied with the sounds he was playing, and looked for a more uplifting genre. It was then he made the move over to spinning house and trance, and from house parties to clubs. He played several local club nights for various promoters, and it was whilst playing in a back room for All Fired Up! that he was noticed by the promoters of The Evolution Experience, an emerging night that was making waves in the Pembrokeshire club scene. At the next of their events he was asked to play the main room, and soon was chosen to be their resident DJ and designer.

The residency at The Evolution Experience opened numerous doors, and Escher quickly found himself playing at clubs all over Wales and the UK, such as Tranzaction in Truro and The Fridge in Brixton. He also had the opportunity to play at club nights in China, which he lists as one of his DJing highlights.

He lists his DJing style as ‘playing to suit the party’ – his love of all types of electronic music means that he can play sets of house, electro, trance, breakbeat and has even been know to play the odd eclectic set of disco and hip hop. His skill lies in reading the crowd perfectly and carefully selecting the right records to build the atmosphere. His current influences are DJ's and producers such as Mauro Picotto, Timo Maas, Green Velvet and Plump DJ's, and acts such as Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem and Groove Armada.
